Sqord was a social health company whose goal was to make healthy active play more fun for kids using a gaming platform and a low cost wearable wrist device.

Working with Sqord was such a unique opportunity for me. I began by coordinating photo shoots with kids to get images needed for branding and marketing. Along with shooting and editing the photography I also coordinated the models, managed model releases, hired a second photographer, and managed the props for these shoots.

Working closely with the kids and parents for these photo shoots, I became more interested in the user experience because the kids were using the products during each shoot. I was learning how the kids were engaging with the product and what the user experience was like for them which led me to become more involved with user testing.

I also coordinated an event for an NBC news segment. I found the location and coordinated the users, which included getting them the equipment ahead of time so they could become familiar with the products before production day. For this event and other shoots, I looked for users with a wide range of demographics and abilities, but all within the typical age range of the Sqord target audience.
Being a team player is an integral part of any position, but especially at a start-up when there are limited number of staff. I was always more than happy to support the business however I could. Even packaging hundreds of boxes that needed to be shipped ASAP after a product error was discovered.

A very important part of user experience is providing help content where users can find answers to common questions. I modeled for several of our help videos and provided feedback on what was needed from the user's perspective. This is just one example of the type of help videos we created to help foster a great user experience.
